The Sustainable Future of Transport Starts in the Classroom

From 16 to 19 March 2026, the heart of Ljubljana became a meeting point for VET educators, trainers, and professionals from across Europe. The SEE GL – ESG in Transport & Logistics pilot training, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme, brought together participants for four days of intensive learning, peer exchange, and collaborative curriculum development.

From 16 to 19 March 2026, the heart of Ljubljana became a meeting point for VET educators, trainers, and professionals from across Europe. The SEE GL – ESG in Transport & Logistics pilot training, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme, brought together participants for four days of intensive learning, peer exchange, and collaborative curriculum development.
From 16 to 19 March 2026, the European VET education community and numerous experts gathered in Ljubljana to exchange knowledge about the sustainable future of transport. The SEE GL pilot training — ESG in Transport and Logistics, supported by the Erasmus+ programme — enabled intensive learning and the development of innovative curricula.

Why ESG in Transport?

The transport and logistics sector is at the forefront of the European Union's green transition. As regulatory requirements tighten and labour market expectations evolve, educational institutions must equip their trainers with up-to-date knowledge and practical competences. The SEE GL project was designed precisely for this purpose — to strengthen the capacity of VET teachers, lecturers, and professional associates to integrate ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles into transport and logistics education.


What Did We Learn?

The training was structured around three content modules:


Day 1 – Foundations (Module 1)The first day focused on building group dynamics and mutual trust. Sessions covered an introduction to ESG in logistics and transport, an overview of international ESG norms and regulations, and a deep dive into andragogic methods suited for adult education contexts.


Day 2 – The Three Dimensions of ESG (Module 2)The second day explored all three pillars of ESG:

  • Environmental dimension – carbon footprint, green logistics, environmental impact analysis

  • Social responsibility – driver working conditions, occupational safety, gender equality

  • Corporate governance – transparency, ethical management, accountability

  • ESG Reporting & Digital Tools – practical introduction to digital solutions for ESG compliance


Day 3 – National Context (Module 3)The final working day was dedicated to applying legal norms in participants' national contexts, adapting sustainability principles to local realities, and a final review of curriculum materials and opportunities for improvement.


Learning Through Experience

This was not a traditional lecture-based training. Learning happened through hands-on workshops, case study analysis, group reflections, and cross-national exchange. Each partner country contributed its own national content and good practice examples — from green logistics initiatives to fleet management strategies — creating a genuinely collaborative and comparative learning environment.


What Comes Next?

The learning does not stop in Ljubljana. Each partner organisation will carry out a pilot training in their home country, targeting professionals and stakeholders in the transport and logistics sector. The goal is for ESG principles to become an integral part of vocational education — not merely as a regulatory requirement, but as a strategic competitive advantage.
